Piazza Navona Tours Compared

Most visitors see Piazza Navona on their own, but a guide adds the stories and opens doors that are hard to read alone. This page compares the tour types and says what to check before you book.

Tours around Piazza Navona

The square itself is open public space, so there is nothing to book to stand in front of the fountains. A guide helps with the stories behind them, with the history under the square and with rooms you cannot easily read alone. Tours that pass the square usually walk through the wider historic center. Many include the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain or Campo de' Fiori, so read the stops in the listing and not only the title.

This is an independent guide. The tour cards on this page are listings from tour companies, not offers from us, and a listed price is not a free place on your date. The one guided tour with a published price on this page is the exhibition tour of the Chiostro del Bramante, and its operator sets the conditions.

What to check before you book

Two tours with the same title can be very different.

Outside or inside

Most walks show the fountains and facades from outside. An entry to a church, museum or ruin is included only if the listing names it.

Guide, headset or audio guide

Look for a live guide, a headset or an audio guide. Large groups in a loud square are easier to follow with a headset.

Language and length

Check the language of the tour and how long it runs. A tour that adds the Pantheon or Trevi Fountain is longer than a tour of the square alone.

What the price includes

Food, drinks, tips and transfers are often extra. Prices from tour companies are not entry prices set by museums or churches.

Cancellation

Rules differ by listing. Admission tickets for the Chiostro del Bramante cannot be cancelled or changed, so read the terms of every product before you pay.

The stadium under the square

Do not book on the assumption that it is open.

Some listings name the Stadium of Domitian, the ancient arena below the square. The site is closed for restoration, and no reopening date is available. A listing that names it is not a promise of entry, so look for a notice about the closure before you pay. The Stadium of Domitian page has the history and the practical status.

The crypt of Sant'Agnese is a different place. Guided crypt visits go through the booking route that the church names, and work in the small crypt area resumed in May 2025, so not every part may be open. Read the Sant'Agnese page for the church itself.

Tours for the rest of Rome

This site stays with the neighborhood.

Tours of the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps are collected on the Rome tours page. For the Forum and the Palatine Hill, see the Roman Forum tours page. A museum visit at Palazzo Braschi, with its own ticket, is on the Palazzo Braschi page.

Piazza Navona tours: frequently asked questions

Do I need a tour for Piazza Navona?

No. The square is free and open, and the fountains are easy to see on your own. A tour is worth it if you want the stories, the history under the square or a guide for an exhibition.

Does a tour include the Stadium of Domitian?

It cannot while the site is closed for restoration. If a listing names it, look for a notice about the closure and ask the operator before you pay.

How much does the Chiostro del Bramante tour cost?

In 2026 it costs €110 per group plus €15 per participant, with one free place for every 10 participants. Booking must be made at least 7 working days ahead and needs confirmation.

Can I get a tour in German?

The exhibition tour is offered in German, but a German date is not guaranteed every day. Ask for it when you book. For walks, read the language in the listing.

Can I cancel?

It depends on the product. Admission tickets for the Chiostro del Bramante cannot be cancelled or changed. For other tours, read the terms in the listing before you pay.
